The new Assistant Secretaries were sworn in last week at the U.S. Department of Labor. During the ceremony, Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis, said, "None of the men and women is under any illusion about the challenges that lay before us. And I am confident that this is the right team to help me lead the Labor Department through some rather turbulent economic times."

• Those being sworn-in include:
  • Jane Oates, Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training Administration;
  • Ray Jefferson, Assistant Secretary for Veterans Employment and Training Service;
  • Phyllis Borzi, Assistant Secretary for Employee Benefits and Security Administration;
  • Brian Kennedy, Assistant Secretary for Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs;
  • Michael Kerr, Assistant Secretary for Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management;
  • Kathleen Martinez, Assistant Secretary for Office of Disability Employment Policy;
