Legislation (H.R. 3337
) was introduced in the House last week by Representative Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) to expand college job training and apprenticeship opportunities for Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans. The legislation would expand the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill (Pub. L. No. 110-252
) to include a subsidy for job training and apprenticeship programs for veterans who do not pursue college.
According to Representative DeLauro, 10 percent of veterans taking advantage of the Montgomery G.I. Bill use the available benefits for education other than college or graduate school, including for on-the-job training and apprenticeship programs.
