2009 NASWA LMI Directors' National Conference
Atlanta, Georgia
November 3-5, 2009

On behalf of the NASWA LMI Annual Conference Subcommittee and the host state of Georgia, we are pleased to announce registration is now open for the NASWA 2009 LMI Directors' National Conference.

The theme of this year's conference is "Building a Foundation for Economic Recovery." This conference will showcase the best of LMI tools, products and services in support of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the Rapid Reemployment Initiate, and other workforce and economic development support services. The NASWA LMI Directors' meeting (NASWA members only) will be held on Tuesday, November 3, from 8:30 a.m. ? 11:30 a.m. Official opening of the conference session will begin at 1:00 p.m. Early registration for the conference session will begin on site at 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 3. A private tour of the Carter Presidential Library is planned for Tuesday evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner at the Carter Center. On Wednesday, November 4, attendees will have access to a wide variety of concurrent workshops showcasing some of the nation?s best LMI tools, applications and support to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the Rapid Reemployment Initiative, and other workforce and economic development support services. On Wednesday evening, attendees will be treated to a reception that puts them high in the sky with breathtaking views of Atlanta. On Thursday, November 5, the conference will conclude with important and relevant plenary discussions, followed by a closing ceremony shortly before noon.

The fee is $350.00 for state and federal staff registering by October 2, 2009. The fee for registering after October 2 is $400.00. As in previous years, the day prior to the conference--Monday, November 2, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.--the Workforce Information Council (WIC) is sponsoring the New Director Orientation by the WIC state representatives. This high-value event has proven very useful for new LMI Directors and as a refresher to current LMI Directors. The training session may also prove highly valuable for senior LMI staff where Administrators and LMI Directors may be concerned about or involved in succession planning.
