Unemployment Insurance: Assessment of the Impact of the 2002 Reed Act Distribution
The Center for Employment Security Education and Research (CESER), a component of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA), with the assistance of Booz Allen Hamilton and Decern Consulting, conducted research of how states are using the $8 billion special Reed Act Distribution of 2002. Senate Appropriations Chairman Outlines Second Supplemental For September -- $500 Million Slated For Job Training
Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Robert C. Byrd (D-WV) made the opening bid for a new supplemental spending measure that provides $24.1 billion in new spending for a host of domestic programs including job training.  (08/01/08)
Baucus Delays Trade Adjustment Assistance Bill
Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) announced July 25 that a markup on legislation expanding and renewing the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program for workers displaced by international trade will not take place before the August recess because of the deadlock on the U.S.-Colombia free trade agreement.   (08/01/08)
