UI & A&F Committees Discuss EUC, Recovery Act With White House Committee on Ways and Means Staffer At a joint meeting in San Diego, California this week, NASWA's Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Administration and Finance (A&F) Committees held a conference call with Nick Gwyn, Staff Director, Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, House Committee on Ways and Means, to discuss the Senate's version of the EUC bill (H.R. 3548) and extensions of the UI provisions in the Recovery Act set to expire at the end of 2009. Unemployment Insurance Bill Awaits Senate Action Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) may seek a vote this week on legislation to extend unemployment insurance benefits (H.R. 3548). The legislation has faced several obstacles, including objections from a number of Senators to provide additional UI benefits to all states, not just those states with an unemployment rate of 8.5 percent of higher.
