    Data Quality Initiative and State Fiscal Stabilization Fund
    In Congress, the House and Senate are currently supporting funds of $12-$15 Million to workforce/LMI in 2010. The aim is to build state longitudinal database systems.     NASWA President Karen Lee Submits Letter In Opposition To Proposed DOL Rule
    On October 17th, President Karen Lee submitted a letter to the Administrator of the Office of Policy Development and Research expressing opposition to the creation of an Electronic Job Registry as outlined in the Notice of the Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for Temporary Agriculture Employment of H-2A Aliens in the United States.  (11/04/09)

    Census Bureau Seeks Public Comment on the "Public Employment Program"
    The Census Bureau provides this employment data to the Bureau of Economic Analysis for constructing the functional payrolls in the public sector Gross Domestic Product, payroll being the single largest component of current operations. Other government users include the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as a benchmark for its monthly employment programs, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, to establish payroll guidelines for local public housing authorities.  (09/30/09)

    GAO Report: Pilot Projects Could Help Test Solutions to Long-standing Concerns with the EEO Complaint Process
    GAO recommends that if EEOC approves pilot projects to test ways to improve complaint processing, it should direct pilot project officials to develop sound evaluation plans and EEOC staff to review and approve such plans. EEOC agreed with GAO's recommendations.  (08/13/09)
    Court Order Prevents USDOL From Suspending H-2A Regulations
    The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina recently issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) from suspending the H-2A regulation as issued under the Bush Administration.   (08/08/09)
    ETA Proposes Merit Staffing & Allocation Of Training Funds To States For New TAA
    USDOL's Employment and Training Administration proposed a rule in the August 5 Federal Register that personnel administering TAA-funded worker adjustment assistance programs must be state employees covered by the merit system. The proposal also sets forth the procedure by which USDOL will distribute TAA training funds to the states.   (08/08/09)
